The government is also introducing a deregulation package for the renewable energy sector.
2025-07-16According to data presented by the Fraunhofer Institute for According to the International Solar Energy Systems (ISE) organization, many European countries generated record amounts of solar energy in the first half of 2025.
Germany was the leader, with its photovoltaic installations supplying a total of 40 TWh of energy to the grid, which is 30% more than the 30.7 TWh supplied during the same period last year.
Other European countries also saw a significant increase in the amount of energy generated by photovoltaic cells in the first half of the year: in France, photovoltaic systems generated 15.1 TWh in the first half of 2025. compared to 11.3 TWh in the same period last year; Denmark reached 2.3 TWh compared to 2.0 TWh last year; and Poland increased its share of solar energy from 8.8 TWh in the first half of 2024. up to 10.3 TWh in the first half of 2025.
Overall, the share of electricity from renewable sources in net electricity production in Germany was 60.9%, compared to 65.1% in the first half of 2024.
